Yesterday we went to the slums, in Aquas Negras. It was really scary at first; everyone was following you begging for food. We all hooked arms and we took off our jewelry and things we didn’t want to lose before we got out of the bus. It was dangerous in a way but we were there for a good reason. We gave out all the food and clothes and it felt like we had hardly given out anything. People were still begging for food but then the Lord did something amazing. Margaret Ann, Sudie, Maddie and I and tons more girls started playing with the girls. We played patty cake and down by the bank and this Spanish red rover dance. Everyone was playing with the kids and having a good time. I thought it was truly amazing how Jesus can turn a scary and dangerous situation into a fun atmosphere, where no one wanted to leave.
