Good Bye to Manuel

GoodBye to Manuel

The place was packed yesterday. The boys took the bus with the kids, and several of us took the truck (ie sat in the back, as the boys do in the video to be transported to school). As we were leaving the neighborhood, Manuel ran after us and climbed onto the back of the truck, not any different from the garbage men at home clinging to the back of the garbage truck. He had to go somewhere this morning (Friday) and his face fell when he learned that we were leaving. At this point, some of the more seasoned truck, such as Emily and Sarah, did break down. We said that he could not go where we were going, and that we loved him. He jumped off the back of the truck and waved at us.
Driving down the road, watching him get smaller and smaller, the words of MA came to mind. She had talked to him in Spanish with her sister LE, and that as they left each other Thursday, that if they did not see each other again this side of eternity, they would see each other to worship forever in heaven. Sweet MA just wept telling us that. Parents, you are in for a treat!

The photo above apf a group of kids is the first day of VBS, when Manuel stepped up to lead the kids and help interpret for them. They are having a race, and he was standing upon a stump to better serve. Look at the beauty of the surroundings. At the top of that peak, there is a large statue of Jesus with His arms over the city. Manuel is doing a back flip off the post.

The other photos are of Manuel saying his goodbyes then jumping off the truck.

Our parting prayer for him is that he will be a godly leader, keep his eyes upon Jesus, and submit to godly pastoral authority to learn how to be a man.
